Transfer Updates on Stije Resink

The ongoing transfer saga surrounding Stije Resink continues to unfold. Ajax is keen to secure his services, but they are aiming for a summer acquisition. Meanwhile, Resink, the captain of FC Groningen, recently received an inquiry from José Mourinho, who is interested in bringing him to Benfica. In response, FC Groningen has issued a firm statement: Resink is not available for transfer this winter.

Ajax has been actively searching for a controlling midfielder for several weeks. Various reports indicate that they are considering the option of temporarily acquiring an experienced player to complete the season. The plan would then be to reapproach FC Groningen in the summer for Resink. However, progress on this front has been slow, and at present, Youri Regeer remains the only recognized ‘number six’ in Fred Grim’s squad.

In light of reports from Voetbal International, presenter Daan Jurgers has speculated whether Ajax might consider a trade deal to secure Resink. “For example, they could involve Dies Janse, who is already on loan at Groningen, or Oliver Edvardsen, who has been linked with the club,” Jurgers suggested. In response, Boualin remarked, “While Edvardsen could potentially be a fit, I am uncertain if Groningen is seeking someone in that position. I doubt that Resink is financially feasible for Ajax at this moment.”
