Gabriel Suazo Critiques Team Performance After Loss to MallorcaGabriel Suazo Critiques Team Performance After Loss to Mallorca

Gabriel Suazo served as captain during Sevilla’s defeat to Mallorca, where he expressed strong criticism regarding the team’s performance. He stated, “It is very difficult. We lost focus for just ten minutes in the second half. We allowed easy opportunities from throw-ins, and that cannot happen. We are fighting for important goals to elevate this club to where it belongs.”

He continued, “Incidents like these cannot occur, and we discussed them passionately post-match. They are simple plays, and we must acknowledge our mistakes and move forward with humility. We are confident that we will win the next game, but we need consistency. In the first half, we controlled the game, but it goes beyond that. It is our responsibility to recognize the challenging situation we are in, as a lapse in concentration can lead to goals for the opponent. I believe in this group of players, and I will remain positive, assisting this institution in any way I can.”

Neal Maupay, Sevilla’s only winter signing, made his debut as a starter and scored a spectacular goal before halftime. “It was a good goal to build my confidence, but I want to win, not just score and lose. This is a tough night for us. We must analyze this match as we have another home game coming up, and we need to improve,” he noted. Maupay highlighted the team’s issues during the match at Son Moix: “We need to play better, give more, and support each other more. It is unacceptable for us to concede four goals in our current situation, but I believe we can do better, and tonight was not a good night.”
