Despite Feyenoord currently facing a deeper crisis, Valentijn Driessen asserts that Ajax is in no better condition. The Amsterdam club squandered a 2-0 lead against Excelsior Rotterdam, resulting in a 2-2 draw and dropping them to fourth place in the standings.

Initially, Ajax appeared to be in control during their match in Rotterdam, but a series of mistakes in the latter stages of the game led to their downfall. In a video segment for De Telegraaf, Driessen highlighted Ajax’s struggle with complacency. He remarked, “At 2-0 against Excelsior, things should be straightforward; however, the team’s performance was underwhelming. If they had played to their potential, they would have led 4-0. It seems like there is a certain ease in their play; some players are not fulfilling their responsibilities, which can be dangerous against a team like Excelsior.”

Driessen also expressed serious concerns regarding Feyenoord’s performance, questioning the security of head coach Robin van Persie’s position. In his column for De Telegraaf, he noted, “The Feyenoord management must reconsider the head coach’s position after witnessing how poorly the team performed against PSV. Van Persie himself acknowledged the disappointing display of his squad against the champions.”
