FC Augsburg has officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker Uchenna Ogundu.

According to Turkish sources, the transfer has cost the German club a significant sum. Renowned journalist Ertan Süzgün reports that Augsburg has paid a base transfer fee of €4.5 million for Ogundu, which could increase to €6.5 million depending on performance bonuses. Furthermore, Ogundu’s previous club, Alanyaspor, has secured a substantial resale clause in the agreement.

In addition to Ogundu, Augsburg has bolstered its squad with the recent signings of Portuguese talent Rodrigo Ribeiro and seasoned Austrian forward Michael Gregoritsch. On the transfer deadline day, the club also acquired Stuttgart reservist Thomas Kastanaras.

Gregoritisch has already made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in Augsburg’s recent victory over relegation rivals FC St. Pauli.

Augsburg’s sporting director, Benni Weber, expressed his satisfaction with the signing: “We are very pleased that Uchenna has chosen FCA. With his pace, dynamism, and ability to penetrate defenses, he is a perfect fit for us and will add extra versatility to our game.”

Ogundu shared his excitement about joining the club, stating, “FC Augsburg offers me a great opportunity to prove myself in one of the best leagues in the world. I can’t wait to play at the WWK ARENA for the first time and experience the atmosphere.”
