Fenerbahce has confirmed the acquisition of former Leicester City and Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté.

Initially, it appeared that Kanté would remain at Al Ittihad after negotiations reached an impasse on Tuesday. Fenerbahce attributed the breakdown of the deal to the Saudi Pro League club’s failure to adhere to FIFA regulations regarding transfer registrations.

Subsequently, Al Ittihad issued a farewell message to Kanté on X, indicating that an agreement had been reached to sell the remainder of his contract.

At 34 years of age, Kanté is making a return to European football after joining the Saudi Pro League in 2023. He achieved back-to-back Premier League titles with Leicester and Chelsea in 2016 and 2017 and also secured a Champions League title with the London club.

Kanté was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018. Notably, he becomes the second French midfielder to join Fenerbahce during this transfer window, following the arrival of former Arsenal player Matteo Guendouzi.
