Levante Prepares for Challenging Fixtures in FebruaryLevante Prepares for Challenging Fixtures in February

Levante will face a significant challenge this Sunday at 16:15 as they continue their pursuit of survival in La Liga. After confronting Atlético de Madrid at home, the Valencians will square off against another Champions League contender, a matchup that has historically posed difficulties for the team.

The Granota squad has played a total of eight matches at the new San Mamés stadium, inaugurated in September 2013, managing to secure only one victory during these encounters.

This solitary win took place during the 34th matchday of the 2017/2018 season, where Levante triumphed with a convincing 3-1 scoreline, featuring a comeback highlighted by a brace from Enis Bardhi and a late goal from Morales, which confirmed a vital victory essential for their survival that year.

Aside from this notable match, Levante has not gained any additional points in the “Botxo,” resulting in a streak of seven consecutive losses. The only exception was a 1-1 draw during the semifinals of the 2021 Copa del Rey.

Managed by Ernesto Valverde, Athletic Club will be the first of four or five significant challenges for Levante this February, depending on scheduling. Following their match against Athletic Club, Luís Castro’s side will encounter Valencia on February 15, in a regional derby at Orriols, followed by a clash against Villarreal on February 18, a rescheduled match due to a red alert. Later in the month, they will face FC Barcelona at Camp Nou on February 22, and potentially Alavés at Ciutat, should the calendar permit.
