Kobbie Mainoo has reestablished himself in the starting lineup for Manchester United under the management of Michael Carrick. Previously, under former coach Ruben Amorim, Mainoo saw limited playing time, leading to speculation about his frustration and potential departure from the club. However, he has since started in the last three matches, contributing to victories over Arsenal, Manchester City, and Fulham. The latest triumph against Fulham propelled the Red Devils back into the Premier League’s top four, marked by a dramatic equalizer from Fulham’s Kevin in the 91st minute, followed by a last-minute winner from Sesko.

Following the match, Carrick acknowledged the significance of the victory, stating, “This was a big game for us. They are a good team and are close behind us in the league. The narrative of ‘big games’ applies to every match, and we must treat them all with equal importance. Today was particularly tough, as expectations were high, but we ensured our players were mentally and physically prepared, leading to our success.”

Fulham’s Alex Iwobi shared his experience of facing Mainoo, humorously recounting an incident where Mainoo accidentally injured him. In his matchday vlog, Iwobi said, “Shout-out to Kobbie Mainoo. But Kobbie, you finished my hand. This guy’s got Ghanaian strength!”

Iwobi also commented on the match, reflecting on their comeback and the challenges faced, including a controversial VAR decision. He expressed appreciation for Kevin’s exceptional goal, stating, “What a goal that was! And Raul [Jimenez] doesn’t miss from the penalty spot. We felt hard done by with the last-minute goal, but we appreciate all the love and support.”

Mainoo has emerged as a key player following Amorim’s exit from Old Trafford, and he aims to secure his place in the starting XI for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Carrick expressed enthusiasm for Mainoo’s development, noting, “He’s so young and has experienced both highs and lows, which is natural. Those experiences make him better and more resilient. He’s a joy to watch and has shown that he can handle the pressures of big games, including finals and international competitions. We need to continue to push, support, and help him improve.”

Looking ahead, Carrick aims to extend the team’s winning streak to four matches as Manchester United prepares to face Tottenham at Old Trafford in their next Premier League outing. Mainoo is expected to play a significant role in this match against a Spurs side still seeking their first win of 2026.
