Ajax has experienced a tumultuous transfer period. The Amsterdam club has successfully strengthened its squad across various positions but has still not managed to secure a replacement for Jordan Henderson. Transfer expert Mounir Boualin shares his insights on Ajax’s transfer window.

In his analysis, Boualin expresses skepticism regarding the recent signings. “I wouldn’t have done all of this,” he states in Transfermind, a podcast by SoccerNews. “I would have kept things as they were and utilized the talented youth players, who have been performing well. However, I understand the urgency, as Ajax is eager to compete for the second place. I believe Ajax could still secure that position without these additional acquisitions.”

On Deadline Day, Voetbal International reported that Ajax had high hopes of acquiring three defensive midfielders: Hidemasa Morita, Edson Álvarez, and Wataru Endo. Unfortunately, circumstances rendered all three unattainable. Morita was unable to leave Sporting CP due to a failed medical examination of his intended replacement in Lisbon.

Additionally, Fenerbahçe prevented Álvarez from returning to Amsterdam since they could not secure N’Golo Kanté in time. Ironically, Kanté was able to sign with a Turkish club after the transfer window closed, following his contract termination with Al-Ittihad, which adds to Ajax’s frustration.
