Leicester City Faces Six Point Deduction for Financial BreachLeicester City Faces Six Point Deduction for Financial Breach

Leicester City has been subjected to a six-point deduction by the English Football League (EFL) for violating financial regulations.

This deduction will take immediate effect, causing Leicester to plummet from 17th to 20th place in the Championship, where they now find themselves just above the relegation zone based on goal difference.

The sanction follows a charge from the Premier League in May regarding a breach of the Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) over the three-year period leading up to the 2023-24 season.

Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, Leicester City is currently operating without a permanent manager after the dismissal of Marti Cifuentes in January.

According to an EFL statement, “The league is empowered to impose this action under Regulation 87.7, which allows it to enforce sanctions in line with those recommended by any independent Premier League commission or appeal board when deemed necessary to ensure appropriate punishment for the breach.”
