Ruud Gullit has expressed concern for Robin van Persie, who is currently facing considerable difficulties as the manager of Feyenoord. The pressure on Van Persie is mounting, and Gullit remains hopeful that the Rotterdam native can turn the situation around.

Gullit, who had a less than successful stint as Feyenoord’s coach during the 2004/05 season, observes the struggles that Van Persie is experiencing. “He is having a tough time; things are not going well. The numerous injuries are not helping, and the scrutiny on him and Feyenoord is intense,” Gullit stated in his column for De Telegraaf. He noted that other coaches, such as Ron Jans at FC Utrecht and Melvin Boel at Go Ahead Eagles, are in similar predicaments but are not receiving as much media attention.

Reflecting on his own coaching career, which included tenures at Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Feyenoord, Gullit commented, “I often see or hear that I have failed, but that is not the case. I won the FA Cup with Chelsea and reached the final with Newcastle United. However, can I be classified as a successful top coach? No, not really.”
