Maher Carrizo Joins Ajax: Transfer Details Revealed

In the final days of the winter transfer window, Maher Carrizo joined Ajax. The young Argentine player transferred from Vélez Sarsfield, but the exact financial details of his move have now been clarified.

Ajax will pay a maximum of 11 million euros for Maher Carrizo. According to a statement from his former club on the social media platform X, Carrizo was sold for 6 million euros gross for 50% of his rights. Following this, Ajax will pay an additional 1.25 million euros gross for every 45 matches he plays, which amounts to 10% of his rights, distributed over four installments (totaling 5 million euros gross). Consequently, Ajax will acquire an additional 40% of his rights, while 10% will remain with Vélez.

In a recent interview on Ajax’s official website, Carrizo expressed his enthusiasm about joining the club, stating: “I am very happy. This makes me incredibly proud, as well as my family. I am thrilled to be part of a great club like Ajax. I find all of this wonderful, and I didn’t hesitate when they asked me to come here. I am very happy. Ajax is a very big club with a rich history.”

The winger acknowledged the legacy of illustrious Argentine players who have played in Amsterdam and expressed a desire to connect with former Ajax stars such as Nicolás Tagliafico and Lisandro Martínez.
