Ajax’s Next Technical Director: A Question of Choice

The hosts of Vandaag Inside are eager to discover who will succeed Fred Grim as Ajax’s technical director after this season. There is speculation that the new technical director, Jordi Cruijff, may opt for a Spanish candidate.

Will it be Dick Schreuder, or could Ajax face the risk of a foreign misstep?

Johan Derksen asserts, “If I were Ajax, I would immediately secure Dick Schreuder. He has demonstrated his capabilities at PEC Zwolle and NEC. One can conclude that he truly understands his craft, even without top-tier talent.” René van der Gijp concurs, stating, “Absolutely. Especially considering how he managed things at Feyenoord in both halves of the game. He makes effective adjustments and comes out strong from the locker room. That’s quite impressive.”

Valentijn Driessen goes even further, noting that this ‘Spanish invasion’ has already commenced: “The first is here. He already has a Spanish advisor (Joel Lara, ed.). Why does a technical director need an advisor?” Derksen adds, “Both only possess networks and knowledge in Spain. They come here, and they know no one!”
