Ismael Saibari’s Potential Transfer: A Shift Towards Club Brugge?

Ismael Saibari is poised to have numerous options this coming summer, but analyst Jan Mulder predicts that the PSV star may opt for a transfer to Club Brugge. This assertion was made by Mulder in his column for HUMO.

Mulder highlights the improved performance of Belgian clubs in European competitions this season compared to their Dutch counterparts. He notes, “In the Netherlands, a dramatic coefficient situation unfolded on the final day of the preliminary rounds—one not seen since the early 1960s when the Dutch champion was eliminated by teams like Rot-Weiss Erfurt (DDR) in late August. Veteran analysts were left bewildered as Feyenoord struggled against Betis, Ajax fell short against Olympiakos, and PSV proved insufficient against Bayern, who arrived in Eindhoven with a weakened squad and a conservative approach. The Dutch clubs were outmatched, yet the domestic sports press continued to assert that Betis and Olympiakos were teams that Feyenoord and Ajax should consistently defeat.”

“Saibari also desires to advance beyond the first round in the Champions League,” Mulder continues. He believes that transfers of Jupiler Pro League stars to the Netherlands may no longer occur. In the past, players like Nilis, Degryse, Gerets, Mertens, and others successfully made the leap to clubs like PSV. However, Mulder suggests that Saibari may yearn for Club Brugge as he seeks greater success in European competitions. Nevertheless, PSV is expected to demand at least €35 million for the Belgian-Moroccan forward, which could put a potential transfer to Club Brugge out of reach.
