Inter Miami s Transfer Strategies and Upcoming Challenges Under MascheranoInter Miami s Transfer Strategies and Upcoming Challenges Under Mascherano

Inter Miami’s head coach, Javier Mascherano, announced that the club will actively pursue additional signings throughout the MLS transfer window, which remains open until March 26. He expressed contentment with the recent acquisitions made to bolster the team.

“We are not finished with the transfer window, as this period is longer than previous ones. We are continuously looking for players who can enhance our roster and contribute to our success,” Mascherano stated.

As preparations continue for the 2026 MLS season, Inter Miami has already secured several noteworthy signings, including Dayne St. Clair, Sergio Reguilón, Facundo Mura, Micael dos Santos, David Ayala, and Germán Berterame.

“I am pleased with the signings we have completed thus far. It is challenging to replace key players, especially after achieving championship status and witnessing significant departures, as we have experienced,” Mascherano remarked.

He praised the club’s strategic approach in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities in the market. “The club has been both agile and intelligent in its pursuit of players. For instance, acquiring Dayne St. Clair as a free agent and securing Facundo Mura, who might have otherwise commanded a higher fee, demonstrates our ability to seize advantageous situations.”

Mascherano also underscored Berterame’s potential impact, highlighting his versatility as a forward fitting the club’s needs for the upcoming season. “Germán Berterame is an excellent signing. He is currently performing well and possesses significant future potential. At 27 years old, he is the type of player we were seeking—someone who can exploit space, operate on the wing, and collaborate effectively with teammates.”

Although Berterame is unable to train with the team until his work permit is finalized, he will join the squad for their upcoming match against Barcelona SC in Ecuador on February 7.

“Germán will be part of the squad. While he cannot train with us just yet, he is in Miami following a training program we’ve devised for him. He will be traveling to Ecuador because he can participate in matches outside the United States, and we cannot afford to lose any time,” Mascherano explained. “It is indeed an unusual situation to have a player on the roster who cannot practice with the team, but we aim to ensure he integrates with his teammates during this brief period.”

Inter Miami will wrap up their preseason against Ecuadorian LigaPro Serie A champions Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico on February 13, before beginning the MLS season against LAFC.
