John van den Brom’s Future at FC Twente in Question

John van den Brom’s future as head coach of FC Twente remains uncertain. Following the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the new technical director, a decision regarding Van den Brom’s continuation is still pending. Sports analyst Valentijn Driessen, however, believes that Ten Hag may have already made up his mind.

Van den Brom joined FC Twente early in the season, stepping in after the dismissal of Joseph Oosting. His initial impact was positive, securing several victories. Unfortunately, the team’s performance subsequently deteriorated. Currently, FC Twente sits in seventh place in the Eredivisie and was eliminated by AZ in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup last week.

Driessen speculates that Van den Brom will be let go at the end of the season. “There will be discussions with him soon. While I cannot specify a date, he will likely be informed that he should seek employment elsewhere,” Driessen stated. Journalist Verweij suggested that this decision may not be directly related to the team’s results, pointing out that a new technical director typically prefers to bring in their own personnel, referring to Ten Hag’s recent appointment.
