Rooney’s analysis pointed to a psychological and tactical collapse under manager Thomas Frank. He asserted that every match now carries the weight of a survival struggle. “You’d have to say they are [in a relegation battle] with their current form,” Rooney remarked. “West Ham have been performing well, and Nottingham Forest are achieving results here and there. They cannot afford to ignore the reality of their situation. They will certainly be looking over their shoulders.”

The former striker voiced deep concern that the players may not yet fully comprehend the gravity of their predicament. Traditionally, Spurs are expected to contend for European spots, but their current form suggests they are more aligned with the teams fighting against relegation.

A significant point of contention from the defeat at Old Trafford was the red card issued to Spurs captain Cristian Romero for a late challenge on Casemiro.
