Dick Schreuder s Commitment to NEC Amid High Profile InterestDick Schreuder s Commitment to NEC Amid High Profile Interest

Dick Schreuder is currently enjoying significant success at NEC and has been mentioned as a potential candidate for coaching positions at both Ajax and Feyenoord. Speculation arises regarding his future in Amsterdam or Rotterdam.

However, Marcel Boekhoorn, the financial backer of NEC’s achievements at the Goffertstadion, has firmly stated, “Dick has signed a three-year contract with us, is very happy here, and is performing excellently. He will remain with us for the next three years.” He further emphasized that any overtures from Ajax or Feyenoord, accompanied by substantial financial offers, would be inconsequential: “That doesn’t matter; there is no chance of that happening.”

Wim Kieft commented on Schreuder’s accomplishments in Nijmegen, noting, “What Schreuder and NEC are achieving with a squad lacking standout star players is impressive. While players like Bryan Linssen and Tjaronn Chery are solid Eredivisie talents, they are not above average. Nevertheless, Schreuder succeeds in imparting his offensive playing style to all players. Given his previous experiences at PEC Zwolle and the Spanish club CD Castellón, one is curious if he can implement his football philosophy at the highest level in the Netherlands with clubs like PSV, Feyenoord, or Ajax. His brother Alfred, who was swiftly dismissed from Ajax, has likely informed Dick that Ajax presents a unique scenario in Dutch football.”

Reflecting on the past year, Schreuder acknowledged the allure of potential moves to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Eindhoven, stating, “A transfer to a major foreign club would also be appealing. I certainly have that ambition. Alfred has worked with Koeman at Barcelona and has been head coach at Club Brugge and Ajax; such opportunities intrigue me. However, if that doesn’t materialize over time, I would focus on enjoying the journey. I previously worked in Philadelphia with the MLS, which I found incredibly rewarding. Unfortunately, many people in the Netherlands may not fully appreciate that experience.”
