Phil Parkinson, at the helm of Wrexham, has successfully guided the club to three consecutive promotions.

In a show of unwavering support, Wrexham’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have assured manager Phil Parkinson of a “job for life,” highlighting his essential contribution to the club’s transformative journey.

On the fifth anniversary of their acquisition, Reynolds and McElhenney are celebrating a remarkable turnaround for the North Wales club, which has evolved from non-league challenges to aspirations of competing in the Premier League.

Since his appointment in 2021, prior to the Hollywood duo’s inaugural full season, Parkinson has achieved the unprecedented feat of securing three successive promotions.

Currently positioned in the Championship play-off spots, Wrexham aims for a historic ascent to the top flight, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.

Reynolds and McElhenney have reiterated their commitment to further success while enhancing the club’s infrastructure to ensure sustainability. They regard Parkinson as pivotal to these ongoing plans, with McElhenney referring to him as “the lynchpin of this entire operation.”

Reflecting on Parkinson’s impact, McElhenney stated in an interview with The Athletic, “I don’t have the words to fully describe how integral Phil has been to the story and success of Wrexham. Ryan and I frequently discuss our vision, and I cannot envision a scenario where Phil Parkinson would be dismissed. It simply doesn’t make sense.”

He continued, “He has been the architect of our success. In our eyes, he has the job for life, unless he chooses to pursue another opportunity. He is our coach, our manager, our guy. I understand this may sound overly sentimental or even reckless to declare publicly, but that’s our genuine sentiment. We have always been transparent and straightforward.”

Reynolds, best known for his role in Deadpool, has been actively involved in attending crucial matches, including a recent game where Wrexham faced playoff rivals Millwall. His dedication to the team is evident as he expressed, “I recognize I am a fan and a lifelong supporter of Wrexham; I become inconsolable when we lose. I have never been as emotionally invested in winning and losing as I am now.”

The duo acquired Wrexham from the supporters’ trust in February 2021, initiating their ambitious journey with a £2 million investment. This financial infusion has facilitated a swift rise through the ranks, documented in a globally popular series that has significantly enhanced Wrexham’s financial standing.

Additional investments from the Allyn Family and Apollo Sports Capital further bolster Wrexham’s ambitions, including the construction of a new all-seater Kop Stand and plans to enhance their historic stadium.

In the interview, McElhenney reiterated their vision for sustainable growth, stating, “From day one, we aimed to build a sustainable model. The current economic framework of the club, due to its historical context, is not sustainable. Our goal is to plant the seeds for long-term success that will flourish for generations to come. While I aspire to see us win the Premier League and the Champions League, it’s crucial that Wrexham as a town also thrives—otherwise, we have failed.”
