Real Madrid entered halftime of their La Liga match against Valencia with the score locked at 0-0. Alvaro Arbeloa’s squad struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, putting them at risk of losing crucial points in the title race.

Kylian Mbappe, known for his demanding nature, sought clarification during the break regarding an offside call that had denied Real a clear opportunity on goal. He approached the fourth official as they headed down the tunnel, expressing his discontent. “How can he be offside? I demand an explanation,” Mbappe was captured saying by DAZN. The official replied, “We’ll discuss it inside,” to which Mbappe responded, “So let’s go home. Why aren’t you coming?” Clearly agitated, he also referred to the official in less than flattering terms in French.

As the second half approached, Mbappe again confronted the fourth official, questioning, “You told me we would talk about it inside; we are inside now, why aren’t you explaining it to me?” With no response forthcoming, he turned to his teammate Eduardo Camavinga, remarking in French, “These referees are such clowns, bro.”

Recent weeks have seen Mbappe display visible frustration, particularly after Real Madrid’s 4-2 loss to Benfica, which forced them into the Champions League knockout phase play-offs. Reflecting on the defeat, he remarked, “It isn’t about quality, and it isn’t about tactics. It’s about having more desire than your opponent. You could see that everything was on the line for Benfica, but we lacked that drive, which is concerning.”

Mbappe expressed confusion over the inconsistency in their performances: “I don’t have a clear explanation. We need to resolve this inconsistency; a team of champions doesn’t falter like this.”

Despite these challenges, Mbappe’s individual performance remains outstanding, having scored 38 goals in 31 appearances this season, including a goal in the 2-0 victory over Valencia, bringing his total to 82 for Real Madrid.

Arbeloa praised the French star, suggesting he could eventually match Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 450 goals at the Bernabeu. “We thought we wouldn’t see anything like Cristiano again, but Mbappe is on track. He is currently the best player in the world for sure. While Cristiano’s achievements seemed impossible to match, Kylian possesses the qualities needed to follow in his footsteps.”

As Real Madrid, now one point behind rivals Barcelona in La Liga, prepares to face Real Sociedad on Saturday, Mbappe hopes to avoid further disputes with match officials.
