Valentijn Driessen has expressed strong disapproval of the police’s actions following the match between FC Utrecht and Feyenoord on Sunday afternoon. The journalist labeled the police’s response as an unprecedented disgrace, particularly regarding their harsh treatment of Rotterdam fans during a confrontation.

After Feyenoord’s 1-0 victory, footage surfaced online hours later depicting the aggressive tactics employed by the police against supporters. “From the videos, it appeared completely unacceptable,” Driessen commented during the podcast Kick-off from De Telegraaf. “I saw footage where individuals were waiting to board buses, only to be struck down and sprayed with tear gas. This was directed at people simply trying to get on the buses. The issue arose when FC Utrecht fans attempted to breach the secured area. The most effective solution would have been to keep the Utrecht fans out of that zone entirely, which would have prevented the situation from escalating.”
