Luis Enrique Confirms Commitment to PSG Amid Manchester United SpeculationLuis Enrique Confirms Commitment to PSG Amid Manchester United Speculation

Luis Enrique addressed his future with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in light of speculation linking him to Manchester United. As the Red Devils explore alternatives to interim manager Michael Carrick ahead of the summer, the 55-year-old coach made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving PSG. Reports indicate that he is set to sign an extension to his current contract, which runs until 2027. During a press conference on Monday, he confirmed his commitment to the club, stating, “I am so happy at Paris Saint-Germain. Ici c’est Paris!”

Manchester United may find it unnecessary to look far for a permanent management solution, given Carrick’s promising start at Old Trafford. His team secured a 2-0 victory against Tottenham this past weekend, marking their fourth consecutive win. If his successful run continues, Carrick may earn the position permanently. Carrick himself acknowledged the situation, saying, “Nothing’s changed, to be honest. I’m fully aware of the role I’m doing here and the responsibility I’ve got. We want to be successful, and I want the club to be successful beyond the end of the season—if that’s me, if that’s somebody else.”

He emphasized the need for stability, stating, “At this stage, I can’t control that and we’ll see what happens, but it’s certainly about trying to improve the team and making Manchester United stronger. Results over a short period of time don’t change that. If they have changed, there is something wrong. It can’t be so knee-jerk whether it’s really good or whether there are a few issues we need to solve.” Carrick concluded by expressing his enjoyment in the role, saying, “I’m loving what I’m doing. I’m here. I feel at home here, but I fully understand the situation, so I’m not getting too carried away.”

While United aims to secure a top-four finish, PSG is focused on furthering their dominance in Ligue 1. The team recently delivered an impressive 5-0 victory over Marseille, propelling them back to the top of the league, two points ahead of surprise contenders Lens. Luis Enrique expressed his delight with the team’s performance, commenting, “We played a better match in Lisbon (against Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League). We played an incredible match, but there was the result (a 2-1 loss). We scored but we hit the post four times as well. We created a lot of chances. This match is very important for our confidence.”

He added, “It was almost perfect. We are a consistent team. We showed the level of our players in a collective and individual way. It is the best moment of the season.”

Star player Ousmane Dembélé also issued a warning to title rivals, stating, “We really wanted to play a great game and send a message; we’re back and we are ready to hunt after titles. I think we handled the start of the season well. Last year’s start was a lot more difficult. Important moments are coming up, be it in the league or the Champions League. We will also have RC Lens on our tails.” Dembélé contributed significantly to the recent win with a brace, remarking, “I am feeling better. I’m getting into a rhythm. I’m getting better and better.”

PSG will face Rennes on Friday as they continue their pursuit of the league title, while United prepares for a midweek match against West Ham, marking Carrick’s fifth game in charge.
