Roberto De Zerbi Dismissed as Head Coach of Olympique MarseilleRoberto De Zerbi Dismissed as Head Coach of Olympique Marseille

omidbasir- Roberto De Zerbi has been dismissed from his position as head coach of Olympique Marseille after a crushing 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. This setback opens the door for the 46-year-old Italian to pursue new challenges, potentially at the top of the Eredivisie.

De Zerbi had been under scrutiny for some time at Olympique Marseille due to disappointing results in the league. The team currently sits in fourth place in Ligue 1, trailing league leaders Paris Saint-Germain by twelve points. Additionally, Marseille faced a painful exit from the Champions League, with a decisive 3-0 loss on the final matchday against Club Brugge sealing their fate. The club announced De Zerbi’s dismissal on Wednesday.

It would not be surprising if Ajax considers De Zerbi for their head coach position, especially now that he is available without a transfer fee. Notably, De Zerbi played a significant role in the development of Francesco Farioli, a passionate compatriot. He reached out to Farioli early in his career, inviting him to join Benevento, where De Zerbi served as head coach. Farioli subsequently became his goalkeeping coach, a role he also held at Sassuolo.
