Willem van Hanegem Reflects on Luciano Valente’s Decline at Feyenoord

In the Willem & Wessel Podcast by Voetbalprimeur, Van Hanegem remarked, “What I witnessed from Valente in the beginning was truly remarkable. He should have spent another year at FC Groningen; I would have liked to see that.”

Valente emerged as a standout player for Feyenoord in the first half of the season, even earning a debut call-up from national coach Ronald Koeman. However, it has been some time since he displayed his top form. The Algemeen Dagblad noted, “With his careless and sloppy playing style, Valente is losing his place for the World Cup,” following Feyenoord’s 1-0 win against FC Utrecht.
