Dimitri Foulquier to Undergo Knee Arthroscopy

The medical team evaluated all possible options to ensure the best recovery for the French player, who has been experiencing issues since October.

The operation follows Foulquier’s absence from the match against Real Madrid last weekend, which he was ruled out of due to persistent discomfort. Throughout much of the season, he has dealt with knee problems that have resulted in episodes of instability and joint effusions, complicating his participation even in matches he played while in pain.

Initially treated with a conservative approach, the situation did not show the desired progress in recent days. During the week, Foulquier began a new cycle of treatment at the training facility in Paterna; however, the medical staff ultimately opted for surgical intervention to address the injury.

The absence of the French defender had already been indirectly hinted at by coach Carlos Corberán after the match against Real Madrid, when he explained that the management of minutes for Thierry Correia was necessary to preserve options on the right flank due to Foulquier’s prolonged absence and the unavailability of other players in that position.

This current injury is not an isolated incident. During the first half of the season, the same knee had previously kept him out of the squad for the trip to Girona, resulting in an extended recovery period that left him without game time for nearly two months.

As of now, Valencia has not set an official timeframe for his return to the pitch. Typically, recovery durations in such cases range from one month, assuming everything goes particularly well, to three months. The timeline will depend on the player’s recovery progress following surgery and his response in the coming weeks.
