Interest Grows for Mainz Center Back Kacper PotulskiInterest Grows for Mainz Center Back Kacper Potulski

omidbasir- Florian Plettenberg reports that Chelsea, Brentford, and Brighton are among the clubs showing interest in acquiring Mainz center back Kacper Potulski. Chelsea has even explored the option of signing the 18-year-old this summer, with plans to loan him out to Strasbourg immediately after his acquisition.

In addition to the Premier League trio, Serie A teams AC Milan, Inter, and Como have also scouted the Poland U21 international, indicating a growing interest from top clubs across Europe.

Potulski, who previously developed at the Legia Warsaw academy, made significant progress this summer under former FSV head coach Bo Henriksen during training camps and pre-season matches. However, Henriksen only afforded him one league start. Since Urs Fischer took over the club, Potulski has made six additional league appearances, notably scoring his first Bundesliga goal during a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in one of his four starts.

His performances at the Bundesliga level have led to a remarkable increase in his estimated market value, rising from €200,000 to €2.5 million over the past five months. With Fischer preferring experienced players like Stefan Posch, Stefan Bell, and Dominik Kohr for his defensive lineup, Potulski remains a viable candidate for a loan move during the recent January transfer window.

Currently, Potulski is under contract with FSV Mainz until 2028, providing the club with the option to loan him out again next season. Mainz may also wish to retain this promising young talent, particularly if they succeed in avoiding relegation. This year, Potulski has also gained substantial international experience, making five appearances in the Conference League, three of which were starts under both Henriksen and Fischer.
