LaLiga Launches Campaign Against Piracy in EstablishmentsLaLiga Launches Campaign Against Piracy in Establishments

omidbasir- LaLiga is reaching out to all users in its contact list via email, urging them to anonymously report piracy occurring in bars. As of yesterday evening, around 7:30 PM, several of these emails were dispatched. The organization continues its fight against illegal football broadcasts in HORECA establishments by promoting its Reporting Channel, which is described on LaLiga’s website as a “simple, secure, and confidential tool that allows any citizen to actively participate in identifying HORECA establishments that broadcast content fraudulently.”

LaLiga encourages individuals to file reports and states that each user who submits a valid report will receive a reward of 50 euros. However, it is noted in the fine print that this “campaign is valid until 28/02/26 or until 1,000 reports are reached,” and “only the first four valid reports per establishment will qualify for the reward.”

The email included a link directing recipients to the website for submitting reports, where LaLiga specifies that only “individuals over 18 years of age and residents of Spain” may file a complaint. Furthermore, the process for submitting evidence is outlined: “Attach photos taken from publicly accessible areas: a photo of the television or screen clearly identifying the event being illegally broadcast, a front-facing photo of the establishment’s facade for identification, and an interior photo showing the television airing the illegal content.”

Additionally, several “important conditions” are detailed: “The report must be truthful and will be reviewed by LaLiga […]; photographs featuring individuals will not be accepted, even if identification is not possible (for example, if taken from behind or showing only part of their body), and images containing personal information will also be disallowed; anonymous reports are not eligible for rewards; a single participant can only receive one reward per establishment; and for a single establishment, up to four rewards may be granted during the campaign, provided they correspond to different broadcasts or matches and the establishment has not previously been identified and verified as an infringer by LaLiga.”

LaLiga’s objectives are twofold: to protect establishments that legally broadcast football and to facilitate citizen cooperation in defending audiovisual rights, offering users a mobile-accessible reporting channel that operates at any time.

“Piracy harms the entire football ecosystem, particularly bars, restaurants, and betting houses that comply with the law. We want everyone to know how to identify illegal broadcasts and be aware that they can notify us easily, securely, and confidentially. Citizen collaboration is a key tool in this fight, and we also wish to acknowledge it,” stated Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, a few days ago.
