Thomas Partey Faces Additional Rape Charges Amid Ongoing Legal ProceedingsThomas Partey Faces Additional Rape Charges Amid Ongoing Legal Proceedings

omidbasir- Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape involving a newly alleged victim.

This development follows the 32-year-old’s earlier not guilty pleas to five counts of rape against two women, along with one count of sexual assault related to a third individual. Consequently, Partey is now facing accusations of sexual offences involving four women.

The newly added charges pertain to alleged incidents that occurred in 2020 and were reported to law enforcement last August, prompting a renewed investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13 for an initial hearing regarding these two new charges.

The Ghanaian international was granted conditional bail at Southwark Crown Court in September following his not guilty pleas to the original five charges. These alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022 while he was with the north London club Arsenal.

Notably, he was charged just days after leaving Arsenal when his contract concluded at the end of June. The charges emerged after an investigation by detectives, which began in February 2022 after police received a report of rape.

A trial is set to commence under a High Court judge on November 2 of this year.

Since his departure from the Premier League, Partey has signed with Spanish football club Villarreal on a one-year deal, confirmed after he was charged with rape.

Partey transferred to Arsenal for £45.3 million from Atletico Madrid in October 2020 and made 130 Premier League appearances for the club under manager Mikel Arteta.

His legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously stated that he “denies all the charges against him” and is eager to “finally clear his name.”
