Last summer, it appeared highly likely that Ajax would lose Ouazane to Real Madrid, as the renowned club actively pursued the then sixteen-year-old midfielder. However, the transfer fell through at the last moment. “At that time, I didn’t have a contract with Ajax, so I started to think about it,” he recalls in his conversation with Ajax Life. “Do we want this? Is this an opportunity? Many people might question why I would consider this at such a young age. But Real Madrid is indeed the biggest club in the world.”
