Wouter Burger’s Journey from Feyenoord to Hoffenheim: A Reflective Interview

omidbasir- Wouter Burger has emerged as a significant player for the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. In a recent interview with Algemeen Dagblad, he addressed inquiries about a potential return to Feyenoord and the prospect of representing the Netherlands national team.

Burger reflected on his time at Feyenoord, stating, “It’s difficult: as a youth international, you join Feyenoord’s squad, and you know you still make mistakes. Sometimes, as a young player, you just fit in and stay, but I found myself stagnating.” He explained that after not achieving his breakthrough, he decided to leave the club. “When I transferred to FC Basel, I consciously chose to distance myself from Rotterdam and the Netherlands to experience a different environment. I am and will always be a supporter of Feyenoord, but I needed to leave in order to truly progress in my career.”
