Eduardo Coudet Reflects on Alav s Loss Against GironaEduardo Coudet Reflects on Alav s Loss Against Girona

Eduardo Coudet addressed the media following Alavés’ defeat to Girona at Montilivi, expressing regret over the team’s lackluster performance in the first half and the missed opportunities in the second half.

In his analysis, Coudet stated, “We were not ourselves in the first half. We failed to execute our usual style of play, energy, and teamwork. Despite having a clear chance with Denis, we did not demonstrate our typical performance. In the second half, we competed much better and pressed forward, but in the league, you pay a price for not delivering a strong 45 minutes. We came close to equalizing. The lesson is that you cannot start the game sluggishly or give away precious minutes.”

Regarding their narrow defeats, he added, “In the second half, we could have easily equalized. We need to develop an obsession with scoring. We are a compact team that doesn’t concede many chances. Goals translate into points. It is unacceptable to experience such a drastic change from our previous match to the first half today. All our losses have been by a small margin, leaving us with the feeling that we should have earned more points. We now have 15 days to improve and prepare. Time and hard work are always beneficial for growth.”

Coudet noted the room for improvement, stating, “The feelings are that we could have more points, which indicates that the team is competitive, plays well, and can perform effectively both at home and away. The players understand their roles, beyond just the system and the individuals. Coaches never experience tranquility, but maintaining this idea reassures me that the team is on the right path and can improve. The competition is quite balanced, and winning two consecutive matches has proven challenging. We must avoid becoming overly confident when we win or excessively discouraged when we lose. It is essential to maintain equilibrium and retain our performance levels throughout the 90 minutes.”

On the first half performance, he remarked, “Energy levels are noticeable. We must start strongly from the first minute. Playing at home is easier with the support of the crowd and atmosphere. Although we have faced losses on the road, we have not struggled as much as we did today. Sometimes, setbacks can serve as valuable lessons for future matches.”
