Igor Thiago Extends Commitment to Brentford with Long Term ContractIgor Thiago Extends Commitment to Brentford with Long Term Contract

omidbasir- Igor Thiago has officially signed a new long-term contract with Brentford, securing his future with the Premier League club until at least the summer of 2031. This agreement also includes an option for a one-year extension for the club.

At 24 years of age, Thiago has established himself as a pivotal player at the GTech Community Stadium this season, netting 17 league goals, a tally that is only surpassed by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

He has already set the record for the most goals scored by a Brazilian player in a single Premier League season, with 12 matches remaining, and he achieved his first top-flight hat-trick against Everton in January.

Head coach Keith Andrews expressed his satisfaction regarding Thiago’s long-term commitment, stating, “It’s brilliant that Thiago has committed his long-term future to the club. The connection that he has with his teammates, the staff, and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and how much he means to us, is evident for everyone to see.

“I love working with him and have enjoyed watching his evolution as a player. His style of play is integral to our performance and has significantly contributed to our season thus far. He has been a crucial player for us, so this contract is well-deserved, and I am thrilled that the club has managed to finalize it.”

Thiago expressed his affection for the club, saying, “I love the club and the people within it. It’s a true love, a real love. When the fans support me, and I hear them singing my name and my song, it fills me with energy. I am truly grateful for all the love they have shown me; it means so much.”

After joining the club, Thiago faced two major injuries that sidelined him for much of the 2024-25 season. Reflecting on that time, he noted, “In the beginning, when I first arrived, I suffered an injury. The staff and everyone at the training ground offered their support and assistance during that challenging period.”

Since then, Thiago has participated in all but one of Brentford’s league matches this year, helping the team secure a position in seventh place and remain in contention for European football next season.
