omidbasir- Thomas Tuchel has indicated uncertainty regarding Jude Bellingham’s fitness for England’s friendlies next month, stating that the midfielder is currently in a “race against time” following a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Real Madrid.

Bellingham was substituted just ten minutes into Madrid’s 2-1 victory against Rayo Vallecano on February 1, leaving the pitch in tears. Initial reports suggested that he would be sidelined for approximately a month. However, during Thursday’s UEFA Nations League draw, Tuchel expressed concerns that Bellingham might face a longer recovery period than initially anticipated.

“The club [Real Madrid] is taking a more cautious approach regarding the timeline for his recovery,” Tuchel stated. “Jude is pushing himself, and as we know, he is determined and exceptionally professional. He will do everything in his power to be with us in March. We are in regular contact, which is standard, and we wish him the best. We will support him in any way we can. It is indeed a bit of a race against time.”

England is scheduled to face Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31, both matches taking place at Wembley, as part of their preparations for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

“Personally, I remain optimistic about Bellingham’s fitness,” Tuchel added, “but I am not entirely sure.”

Bellingham last represented England in November, coming on as a substitute for 25 minutes against Serbia and playing 84 minutes against Albania. In the past year, he has faced competition for a starting position under Tuchel from players such as Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Earlier in the season, Bellingham also dealt with an injury following shoulder surgery but has still managed to participate in 18 La Liga matches for Madrid this campaign.
