omidbasir- Arne Slot, Liverpool’s manager, emphasized that the “last thing” the team needs this season is another injury, following the unfortunate incident where midfielder Wataru Endo was stretchered off during the match against Sunderland.

Endo, who was already stepping in for injured teammates at right-back earlier in the week, is now anticipated to be sidelined for an extended period due to a foot injury. This latest setback adds to the difficulties facing Slot’s squad as they prepare for the FA Cup fourth-round match against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

“Load management is crucial because we cannot afford another injury at this stage,” Slot commented. “Finding the right balance is always a challenge for the manager and the medical staff. While it’s true that a player risks injury if required to play three matches within seven days, there are also instances where players successfully manage to compete in such a demanding schedule.”

“Our immediate focus is on today’s training session, where we will assess the players’ conditions and listen to their feedback in order to make the best possible decisions moving forward.”

Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a victory over League One side Barnsley, and Slot acknowledged that the team must capitalize on small margins to progress further in the tournament.

“The margins have been extremely narrow for us this season,” he noted. “Whenever the opposing team gets a glimpse of opportunity, they seem to convert it into a goal, while we struggle to find the net despite significant efforts.”

“In the last 20 minutes of Wednesday’s 1-0 win against Sunderland, I observed minimal differences in our performance compared to the previous match against City, where we suffered a 2-1 defeat. The only distinction was that City converted their first chance post our goal. This highlights how fine the margins are in our games.”
