Jordi Cruijff s Transition as Technical Director at AjaxJordi Cruijff s Transition as Technical Director at Ajax

omidbasir- Ajax is currently in a transitional phase. Jordi Cruijff commenced his duties as Technical Director at the beginning of this month, and the implications of his role in Amsterdam are already causing a stir.

As the son of the club icon and football legend Johan Cruijff, Jordi has officially taken on his responsibilities since February 1st. His initial action involved the dismissal of Willem Weijs and his technical staff from Jong Ajax, with Óscar García stepping in as a replacement—a familiar figure from Cruijff’s tenure at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Concerns regarding Ajax’s future were expressed by Valentijn Driessen, the Football Chief at De Telegraaf, during the Kick-Off podcast. He highlighted worries tied to Cruijff’s approach, stating, “I understand he wants to build a team within the club and collaborate with these individuals. However, it sends a message to the organization when you bring in so many Spaniards at once, particularly not for the first team but for the reserve squad.”
