omidbasir- Bayern Munich has confirmed that centre-back Dayot Upamecano has extended his contract with the club.

The defender’s previous agreement was set to expire at the end of the current season, allowing him to engage in discussions with other teams about a potential summer transfer. Nevertheless, despite interest from clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Upamecano has chosen to remain in Munich.

The 27-year-old’s new contract will run until 2030 and includes a substantial signing bonus, along with a release clause worth €65 million, effective from the summer of 2027, as reported by Sky Germany.

Upon his contract renewal at the Allianz Arena, Upamecano expressed his enthusiasm, stating:

“I’m really happy to be staying at Bayern and continuing to play in this team. We’ve got a great team and a great coach. We’ve got big goals together. In life, it’s always about mentality. I give my all for my teammates in every training session, want to keep a clean sheet in every game, and want to win as many titles as possible with Bayern.”

The French international joined Bayern in 2021 from RB Leipzig for a fee of €42.5 million. After facing challenges during his early seasons under Vincent Kompany, Upamecano has emerged as one of the top centre-backs globally, playing a vital role in the Bundesliga leaders’ defence.

To date, the 27-year-old has made 180 appearances for Bayern, contributing to the club’s three Bundesliga titles.
