Revitalizing Ajax The Return of Club LegendsRevitalizing Ajax The Return of Club Legends

omidbasir- Currently, Ajax is experiencing what some are calling a ‘Spanish invasion,’ but changes are on the horizon, as Jordi Cruijff is also working on bringing back several beloved former players.

According to a report by De Telegraaf on December 28, 2025, the anticipated arrival of Cruijff as technical director could pave the way for the return of iconic figures such as Wim Jonk, Dennis Bergkamp, Richard Witschge, Jan Wouters, Gerald Vanenburg, John van ’t Schip, and Simon Tahamata. Additionally, the club may also see the return of stars like Wesley Sneijder, Patrick Kluivert, Marco van Basten, Siem de Jong, and Ricardo van Rhijn, among others, who have left the club disillusioned in recent years.

Wesley Sneijder has already engaged in discussions with his former employer, and Henk Spaan noted in Het Parool, “It seems like a good idea to have Sneijder in training gear and football shoes, actively participating on the future fields. This environment can indeed be beneficial for former players.” However, he added a caveat: “If the ambitions extend beyond a field full of youth players, a polite rejection may be necessary.”
