Ajax Fails to Secure Experienced Midfielder This Winter

omidbasir- Ajax has, yet again, been unsuccessful in securing an experienced defensive midfielder this winter. Names such as Edson Álvarez, Fred, Jordan Henderson, Stije Resink, and Manuel Ugarte were considered, but all transfer efforts led by Youri Regeer ultimately fell short.

Regeer acknowledged the tough competition within Ajax. “I didn’t find it very difficult,” the current midfielder stated in an interview with ESPN. “Of course, you have to deal with everyone who writes and has opinions, but that’s something you encounter in the football world. If you don’t read too much, you won’t be as affected by it.”

In a conversation with Voetbal International, Ajax director Jordi Cruijff explained the club’s approach. “There was a list of options for the number six position, from which we created a priority order. This process was carried out. However, sometimes what you desire is not feasible. Dreaming is free, but reality can be somewhat more costly. We made the effort, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. While it’s disappointing, that’s part of football.”
