Leon Goretzka Explains Unique Goal Celebration After Bundesliga VictoryLeon Goretzka Explains Unique Goal Celebration After Bundesliga Victory

omidbasir- Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has clarified the meaning behind his unique goal celebration during Saturday’s Bundesliga victory over Werder Bremen. Goretzka sealed the match with a pivotal goal, contributing to the team’s 3-0 away win.

Interestingly, Goretzka’s flapping wing gesture is linked to his passion for golf and his camaraderie with fellow teammate Josip Stanisic. This match marked Goretzka’s 315th appearance in the Bundesliga, where he was part of coach Vincent Kompany’s starting lineup. Key contributions from substitutes Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies were instrumental in setting up Goretzka’s 51st Bundesliga goal. Goretzka took the opportunity to acknowledge Stanisic, who was substituted in the 69th minute, prior to Musiala and Davies entering the game.

“That’s the ‘Birdie dance’ I’m performing,” Goretzka explained to Sky Germany after the match. “Josip and I had agreed that if one of us scored today, we would celebrate with this dance. Unfortunately, he was already off the pitch, but he joined in the celebration from the bench.”

As Goretzka’s departure from the club after the season has been confirmed, the 31-year-old remains focused on achieving more trophies before his departure from the German record champions. Like many of his teammates at Bayern Munich over the past decade, Goretzka has earned a major trophy every year except for the 2023/24 season.

“This season, we feel that anything is possible,” Goretzka stated. “I was fortunate to be part of the team that won six titles in one season under Hansi Flick between July 2020 and February 2021. I remember how we expressed our desire to replicate that success with our fans. We will do everything we can to celebrate significant titles together again with our supporters.”
