omidbasir- Harry Kane’s impressive performance at Werder Bremen marked a historic moment in his career, as he became the first Englishman to reach 500 professional goals. This achievement adds yet another milestone to his already remarkable journey. His next objective is to surpass Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single 34-game Bundesliga season.

When asked about Kane’s potential to break Lewandowski’s record, Vincent Kompany suggested that winning the league title may be a higher priority for Kane than personal accolades. He humorously noted, “But maybe I’m wrong because I was a defender, not a striker! He’s Harry Kane; he has always scored goals and will continue to do so.”

Kane himself acknowledged the challenge of reaching Lewandowski’s 41 goals, stating that discussions regarding the record are best saved for later in the season. “Anything is possible, but there’s still a long way to go. It’s an unbelievable record. I’m currently in good form, and it’s gratifying to help the team. We’ll see where I am in April; I’ll consider it then. But for now, my focus is on the next match.”

With his tally now at 26 goals this season, Kane has outscored seven entire teams in the Bundesliga, including Heidenheim (19), St. Pauli (20), Werder Bremen (22), Hamburg, and Augsburg (both 24), Mainz, and Borussia Monchengladbach (both 25). He also leads the scoring chart across Europe’s top five leagues, with Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid trailing at 23 goals and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland at 22.

Bayern Munich legend Mario Basler expressed confidence in Kane’s abilities, suggesting that he has the potential to surpass Lewandowski’s record, even while actively contributing defensively. He remarked, “I believe Harry Kane is a different kind of player. Lewandowski didn’t exert as much energy in defense. Kane often plays in midfield, winning the ball and distributing it. He has a real chance to break the goalscoring record this season. For me, he is an exceptional striker and the player of the year.”

In response to inquiries about his own record, Lewandowski reflected, “I thought to myself that I scored 41 goals in 29 games that season. That was my benchmark. I had broken the record after 29 games. I truly appreciate this record and am proud of it. It’s about the significance of the 41 goals in 29 games rather than whether it will be broken or not.”
