Nottingham Forest Appoints Vitor Pereira as New Manager

omidbasir- Nottingham Forest has officially appointed Vitor Pereira as their new manager, signing him to an 18-month contract. At 57 years old, Pereira becomes the fourth manager for the club this season, following the recent dismissal of Sean Dyche.

Taking over at the City Ground, Pereira faces the immediate challenge of steering the team away from relegation. Currently positioned 17th in the Premier League, Forest is just three points above the relegation zone, having secured only two victories in their last ten matches.

Pereira’s debut match will be the first leg of the Europa League knockout round play-off against his former club, Fenerbahce, in Turkey this Thursday. Following this, he will lead the team into a Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday, February 22.

This marks Pereira’s return to English football after a stint with Wolves, where he was dismissed in November after 11 months in charge. He is succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Dyche, all of whom have held the managerial position since September.

Dyche was let go following a disappointing goalless draw against bottom-placed Wolves on Wednesday. Pereira, who achieved 14 wins in 38 matches with Wolves and played a crucial role in their survival last season, quickly emerged as the preferred candidate for the role, especially given his previous connection with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis during his time at Olympiacos, where he won the league title and Greek Cup in the 2014-15 season.

Before joining Wolves in December 2024, Pereira had a tumultuous tenure, leaving the club with just two points from their first ten league matches. His managerial career began in 2004 with Portuguese club Sanjoanense, and he has since gained experience in Germany, China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia, marking his 15th managerial role.

Pereira’s coaching staff will include Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida and Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva as assistant coaches.
