omidbasir- Nottingham Forest has officially confirmed the appointment of Vitor Pereira as their new head coach, signing an 18-month contract just three days after Sean Dyche’s departure.

The 57-year-old Portuguese manager has been tasked with guiding the club away from the precarious positions near the Premier League relegation zone.

In a club statement, Nottingham Forest expressed their enthusiasm: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce that Vitor Pereira has been appointed as head coach on an 18-month deal.”

Pereira will be supported by a coaching team that includes Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida (assistant coach), Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva (assistant coach), Bruno Filipe Araujo De Moura (head of physical performance and opposition analysis), and Pedro Simao Capela Silva Lopes (opposition analyst).

With this appointment, Pereira becomes the fourth manager for Nottingham Forest this season, following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, and Dyche, who was relieved of his duties after a goalless home draw against bottom-placed Wolves, leaving the club just three points above the relegation zone.

The team he inherits has only secured one victory in their last five league matches and faces Fenerbahce, one of Pereira’s former clubs, in Turkey for the Europa League play-offs on Thursday.

Pereira gained prominence in his native Portugal by leading Porto to consecutive league titles before moving to Greece, where he achieved a double with Olympiacos after a stint in Saudi Arabia.

The experienced coach has also worked in Turkey, China, and Brazil and has familiarity with the English Premier League, having successfully navigated a survival battle with Wolves.

He joined Molineux in December 2024, when the club was positioned 19th in the league, five points from safety. Under his management, Wolves ultimately finished 16th, a comfortable 17 points clear of relegation.

As Wolves and Burnley face considerable challenges, West Ham sits just three points behind Nottingham Forest with only 12 games remaining. Pereira will need to implement a significant turnaround to meet the expectations of owner Evangelos Marinakis, a feat that has proven elusive for his predecessors.
