Leon Goretzka Explains Unique Goal Celebration Following Bundesliga WinLeon Goretzka Explains Unique Goal Celebration Following Bundesliga Win

omidbasir- Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has shed light on his distinctive goal celebration during Saturday’s Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen. Goretzka sealed the win with a decisive third goal, contributing to a 3-0 away victory.

Interestingly, Goretzka’s flapping wing gesture was inspired by his passion for golf and his friendship with teammate Josip Stanisic. This match marked Goretzka’s 315th appearance in the Bundesliga, where he was part of Vincent Kompany’s starting XI. Key contributions came from substitutes Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, both of whom assisted in Goretzka’s 51st Bundesliga goal. Goretzka also took a moment to honor Stanisic, who had been substituted off for Musiala and Davies just before the goal.

“That’s the ‘Birdie dance’ I’m performing,” Goretzka explained to Sky Germany afterwards. “Stanisic and I had agreed that if one of us scored today, we would celebrate together. Unfortunately, he was already off the pitch, but he joined in from the bench.”

As Goretzka confirms his departure after the season, the 31-year-old remains focused on adding to his trophy collection before leaving Bayern Munich. The Bochum native aims to secure additional titles, having achieved major honors every year except for the current 2023/24 season.

“This season, we feel that anything is possible,” Goretzka commented. “I was fortunate to experience a season where we won six titles under Hansi Flick from July 2020 to February 2021. I vividly remember our promise to replicate that success with our fans. We will strive to celebrate significant titles together with them once again.”
