Ivan Toney Aspires to World Cup Glory with England

omidbasir- Ivan Toney is passionately aspiring to win the World Cup with England as he strives to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

The 29-year-old striker, currently playing for Al Ahli, has netted an impressive 20 goals in the Saudi Pro League this season, outscoring even Cristiano Ronaldo. Toney last represented England in a friendly match against Senegal in June of the previous year and earned a runners-up medal at Euro 2024.

When asked about the prospect of being included in Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup this summer, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Toney shared with Sky Sports News, “It would be a dream to play there. Everyone dreams of that, and imagine if we were to win the World Cup? That would be for the country.”

He further expressed, “You have these little visions of what could happen. If it were to come true, it would be a significant blessing.”

Toney acknowledged the dominance of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, whom he regards as “the best finisher in football,” but remains hopeful about being a valuable backup. “My job is to keep scoring goals, and hopefully that gives me the best chance of being there,” he remarked.

His transfer to Al Ahli from Brentford in the summer of 2024 raised some eyebrows, yet Toney remains open to a potential return to the Premier League. He stated, “I never say never. I have goals I want to achieve here first, but in football and in life, you never know what’s around the corner. You take it day by day, step by step. Hopefully, I can achieve something significant here first, and who knows what the next step may be?”
