Luciano Valente’s Rise at Feyenoord and Future Prospects

The midfielder was acquired last summer for a substantial fee from FC Groningen, and since then, he has made an impressive impact. His former coach, Dick Lukkien, is not surprised by Valente’s performance and anticipates that he will make an even larger transfer in the future.

During a recent appearance on Studio Voetbal, Lukkien shared that he recognized Valente’s potential early on. “It may sound presumptuous, but I had the privilege of working with him for two years. He possesses quick feet and a sharp mind, enabling him to express his thoughts effectively on the field. Therefore, I am not taken aback by his success.”

Lukkien also expressed his belief that Stije Resink is poised to make a significant career move this coming summer. “I am confident that clubs will be interested in him. I think he is ready for the next step, although it may not be the most diplomatic statement for a coach to make. I felt the same way about Luciano Valente. Eventually, players reach a point where they are prepared for new challenges, and I believe Stije is at that juncture as well. I would love to see him take that step in the Netherlands, but ultimately, that decision is not mine to make.”
