Nico Williams Initiates Comprehensive Treatment for Chronic Groin PainNico Williams Initiates Comprehensive Treatment for Chronic Groin Pain

omidbasir- Nico Williams has commenced a comprehensive treatment regimen aimed at addressing the chronic groin pain that has plagued him since last season. The international player will be sidelined for the upcoming matches, and a return date has yet to be established. Following consultations with various specialists, a focused plan for abdominal wall reinforcement was devised, necessitating a strict routine that precludes participation in competitive play. Williams will engage in multiple sessions that integrate specific techniques, exercises, and physiotherapy. This approach was chosen weeks ago and is believed to yield superior results compared to surgical intervention.

The delay in initiating this treatment has been notable. Initially, the strategy for Williams involved balancing competition with short recovery periods, facilitated by customized training and close supervision from specialists experienced in similar injuries. Although the summer training period was productive—following a debilitating episode in the spring—the first setback occurred when Williams suffered issues with his adductors after several weeks of high activity. Since then, he has struggled to experience a complete recovery.

Despite feeling discomfort, Williams was able to participate in select matches; however, he missed numerous key fixtures that were prioritized for earlier treatments aimed at managing intensity during training and competition. The club and the player agreed to reassess the situation during the Christmas break, but upon returning, the discomfort persisted, and his performance was noticeably affected. Following one of the matches in January 2026, it was decided that Williams would seek a consultation with an external specialist while continuing his collaboration with Jurdan Mendigutxia.

Currently, the younger Williams brother is temporarily out of action, and the club has not set a definitive timeline for his return, which will ultimately depend on his response to what is considered a definitive treatment plan. Initially, the expected recovery period is around three weeks, though it is uncertain whether this timeframe will suffice.
