omidbasir- Unai Egiluz is on the brink of completing the final stages of his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in his right knee during a friendly match against Racing on July 30. The 23-year-old central defender is expected to receive medical clearance shortly and will be available to train under coach Valverde as he seeks to regain optimal fitness and confidence necessary for competitive play.

The player from Biscay underwent surgery on August 6, and after a recovery period of nearly six and a half months, he will soon begin to engage in regular training routines with his teammates. Athletic Club registered Egiluz for the league during the winter transfer window, and Valverde will have him available before the end of the campaign. The return of the player, who spent the previous season on loan at Mirandés, will significantly increase the number of central defenders at the coach’s disposal, especially as Yeray is set to complete his UEFA suspension on April 2 and will also be eligible to play.

In recent weeks, Egiluz has been training with the first team’s rehabilitation staff, primarily on field 1 alongside Xabi Clemente. He has gradually regained agility in his movements and ball control. While competitive clearance is still some time away, the current focus is on ensuring he can handle the physical demands and intensity required at the highest level.
