omidbasir- Trinity Rodman is the standout name in the recently announced 29-player roster for the SheBelieves Cup, following her successful return to the squad and a significant contract extension with the Washington Spirit last month. This roster comprises 23 field players and three goalkeepers, featuring 19 representatives from the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Gotham FC stands out with four selections, including Jaedyn Shaw, Emily Sonnett, Rose Lavelle, and Lily Reale. Additionally, seven players are currently competing in Europe, although Chelsea forward Catarina Macario was notably excluded from the roster. However, her Chelsea teammates, Alyssa Thompson and Naomi Girma, have been included, and six of the overseas players are engaged in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

This selection marks the first time in over a year that head coach Hayes has assembled a fully capped squad. Each player has earned at least one cap under Hayes, but their experience levels vary significantly. Three players boast more than 100 caps, with captain Lindsey Heaps leading the group at 170, followed closely by Rose Lavelle at 116 caps. Conversely, Riley Jackson has only one cap, while 12 players on the roster have 10 or fewer.

Hayes has selected three goalkeepers, emphasizing her confidence in Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Claudia Dickey, while Mandy McGlynn’s impressive performances in January secured her inclusion in the squad.

In previous statements, Hayes expressed that the squad for the SheBelieves Cup would closely align with her vision for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Throughout 2025, she has explored a broad range of talent, providing opportunities for many newcomers and granting caps to 44 different players. After a busy year, Hayes has transitioned from exploration to preparation, focusing on maximizing the potential of her selected group.

“The SheBelieves Cup is a fantastic tournament that allows us to replicate the group stages of a FIFA tournament,” Hayes stated. “Three quality games in quick succession also enable us to simulate conditions that will prepare us for the World Cup qualifying campaign this fall. As always, we aim to continue developing our player pool to enhance our preparedness. As we gain more experience, I anticipate our standards will continue to rise.”

The SheBelieves Cup will kick off with the USWNT facing Argentina on Sunday, March 1, at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee. After the opening matches in Nashville, the tournament will progress to Columbus, Ohio, where the USWNT will take on Canada on March 4. The tournament will conclude at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, on March 7, with a rematch against Argentina.
