John Heitinga’s Coaching Prospects in the Eredivisie

omidbasir- John Heitinga was dismissed as head coach of Ajax at the end of 2025 and subsequently took on a role as an assistant at Tottenham Hotspur. He has now parted ways with the London club, but there is no need for concern.

His agent, Rob Jansen, has already indicated that the former defender is in high demand within the football community. In an interview with De Telegraaf, he stated, “A new position seems to be on the horizon, and it could have materialized even faster. Following his initial departure from Ajax, there was tremendous interest in John. This time, interest was almost immediate, with Tottenham Hotspur being one of the potential options. Therefore, this latest development does not come as a surprise to me.”

Now, with Heitinga once again without a club after Thomas Frank’s dismissal in London, there is credible speculation regarding his future opportunities in the Eredivisie. According to FootballTransfers, the coach is said to have a variety of clubs to choose from: “AZ recently parted ways with Maarten Martens and is in search of a successor. Ron Jans is retiring and leaving FC Utrecht. Additionally, the situation remains uncertain at FC Twente, where John van den Brom has an expiring contract.”
