Dortmund Faces Defensive Challenges Ahead of Champions League ClashDortmund Faces Defensive Challenges Ahead of Champions League Clash

omidbasir- Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that their central defenders, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, will be unavailable for the midweek fixture.

On Tuesday, Dortmund is set to host Atalanta for the first leg of their Champions League playoff, with the return match scheduled for the following week.

Both Schlotterbeck and Süle missed today’s training session due to a muscular issue and a thigh injury, respectively.

In their last match, Schlotterbeck was sidelined due to suspension during Dortmund’s 4-0 victory over Mainz, while Süle played until half-time before being substituted for Luca Reggiani after receiving a yellow card.

The absence of these two experienced defenders presents a selection dilemma for coach Niko Kovac. As it stands, Waldemar Anton is the only fully fit senior centre-back available, while Emre Can, who can also fill the role, is currently injured.

Consequently, it is likely that Ramy Bensebaini will join Anton in a back three, with Reggiani potentially earning his first start.
