Bayern Munich s Winning Streak Ends in Draw Against Union BerlinBayern Munich s Winning Streak Ends in Draw Against Union Berlin

A 2-2 draw against Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon marks the end of Bayern Munich’s historic winning streak.

FC Bayern’s goalkeeper and captain, Manuel Neuer, was the first to acknowledge his part in the Bundesliga record champions dropping points for the first time this season.

The capital club took an unexpected lead at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in the 27th minute, largely due to an error from Neuer. Union defender Danilho Doekhi scored the first of his two goals after a shot from approximately ten meters out, which Neuer failed to handle properly.

Neuer should have been well-positioned to save the attempt, which originated from a corner kick. However, he allowed the ball to slip through his fingers and cross the goal line. The 39-year-old, who had received accolades for his performance as man of the match in Tuesday’s challenging Champions League victory over PSG, quickly admitted his mistake.

“The view and distance weren’t ideal for me,” Neuer told Sky Germany. “But I made the wrong decision. Those set pieces really broke our back. The second goal came from a second ball that needed to be cleared by Harry Kane, but I also played a role in the first goal we conceded. It was difficult to perform here today.”
